Alonso speaks ahead of Aston Martin Japan GP test

Fernando Alonso has opened up on Aston Martin’s expectations ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, with the Spaniard admitting the team faces a tough challenge this weekend at Suzuka.
Speaking during pre-race preparations, Alonso said the team is still working to close the gap to front-runners after a mixed start to the season. “We know it won’t be easy here, but we’re pushing to understand the car better,” he said. “Every session is important for us right now.”
Aston Martin have struggled for consistency in recent races, despite flashes of pace. Alonso, however, remains confident improvements will come, adding, “We’ve seen progress, even if results don’t always show it.”
The two-time world champion also highlighted Suzuka’s demanding layout, noting, “It’s one of the best tracks, but it punishes any mistake.”
With crucial points at stake, Aston Martin will be aiming to turn development gains into a stronger race performance in Japan.
