Barcelona fan travels 366 miles to wrong stadium

A Barcelona supporter accidentally travelled to the wrong St James’ Park on Tuesday and ended up watching a third-tier English match instead of the Champions League clash against Newcastle. The fan, who had a ticket for the European game in Newcastle, mistakenly arrived at Exeter City’s stadium in Devon — more than 360 miles away.

Club staff quickly realised the mix-up when the supporter tried to enter the ground with a Champions League ticket. Exeter’s supporter experience officer Adam Spencer recalled the moment: “He looked absolutely devastated.”

The club still welcomed the confused fan and offered him a seat at Exeter’s League One match against Lincoln City. “I put him in a nice seat in the main stand,” Spencer said, adding that he hoped the visitor could still enjoy the evening.

While Exeter lost 1–0 to Lincoln, the Champions League tie in Newcastle ended 1–1 after Lamine Yamal scored a stoppage-time penalty for Barcelona.
