Bolt Has a Warning for Gout Gout — And He’s Speaking From Experience

Gout Gout just broke Usain Bolt’s teenage 200m record. Now Bolt wants a word.
The 18-year-old Australian ran 19.67 seconds at the Australian senior championships in Sydney — eclipsing Bolt’s teenage best of 19.93 set back in 2004. The sprint world is losing its mind. Bolt is urging it to slow down.
“At that young age, you start getting put left and right and then you forget track and field,” Bolt told CNN. He remembered his own transition to the senior circuit. “I felt like I was on top of the world. When I got on the circuit, I didn’t win one race.”
His message: find the right people. Stay focused. The hype will come regardless.
Next up for Gout — a Diamond League 200m against Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo in Oslo on June 10. The real test starts now.
