Broad doubles down on ‘worst since 2010’ jab

Stuart Broad has refused to walk back his pre-series claim that this Australia side is the weakest he has seen since 2010, even after the hosts sealed the Ashes with an 82-run win in Adelaide. The retired England quick insisted the result did not change his view, arguing England’s own mistakes — and Australia’s ability to squeeze relentlessly — were the bigger story than any perceived gap in talent.

Broad’s comments have only added fuel to the rivalry, with Australians previously mocking the sledge after moving 3-0 up in the series. “I still believe this is the least dominant Australian team in more than a decade,” Broad said in media remarks. Australia captain Pat Cummins, reflecting on the clinching win, called it “satisfying.”

The debate now rolls on as attention turns to the remaining Tests and whether England can salvage pride.
