Broncos star Garett Bolles reflects on team brotherhood after meeting with nation’s heroes for Memorial Day

Bolles Meets Veterans of Past Conflicts in Colorado Springs

Denver Broncos offensive tackle Garett Bolles spent time with more than 50 veterans of the Vietnam and Korean wars at a USAA event held in Colorado Springs earlier this month. The veterans, many making their first visit to the capital, will travel to Washington, D.C., this weekend on the Honor Flight of Southern Colorado to view national monuments. Bolles listened to their accounts and expressed appreciation for their service.

Bolles noted that his grandfather served in the Korean War and died earlier this year, making the gathering particularly personal. He described the veterans as the individuals who risked their lives to protect the country and enable ordinary daily routines. The player, who has studied military history, said the direct conversations provided lasting perspective on those sacrifices.

Bolles also addressed the Broncos’ recent season, which ended in the AFC Championship game, and the team’s current preparation for the next campaign. He pointed to the established locker room culture as a foundation that has developed after multiple losing seasons.

The team will continue training ahead of the upcoming schedule with the aim of building on last year’s progress.
