Colapinto blasts F1 race control after safety car drama

Franco Colapinto criticised F1 race control after a safety car period ruined his race during the latest Grand Prix, saying the decision “killed” his chances of a strong finish.
The Alpine driver had been running competitively before the neutralisation reshuffled strategies, leaving him out of position once racing resumed. The incident, which unfolded mid-race, triggered frustration over timing and management decisions.
“I don’t understand the logic. It just killed my race,” Colapinto said, pointing to how rivals gained an advantage from the interruption.
He added: “We were doing a good job, everything was under control, and then suddenly everything changed.”
Despite the setback, the Argentine insisted the pace was there: “The car felt strong, but we couldn’t recover after that.”
The result compounds a difficult period for Colapinto, as Alpine continue to struggle for consistency in the 2026 season.
