European Super League Project Officially Scrapped

The European Super League project has effectively been shelved after Real Madrid reached an agreement with UEFA, bringing an end to the controversial breakaway plan announced in 2021.
The development emerged on Tuesday following renewed talks between the Spanish giants and European football’s governing body. The collapse of the project signals a return to full alignment with UEFA competitions. “The Super League, as previously conceived, is no longer on the table,” a source close to the discussions said. A UEFA official added, “Our focus remains on strengthening existing tournaments.”
Real Madrid had been among the leading advocates of the proposed competition, which faced widespread backlash from clubs, fans and domestic leagues. With this latest breakthrough, European football appears set to move beyond one of its most divisive chapters in recent history.
