F1 team banned from car part at Australian GP

An unnamed Formula 1 team has been barred from using a controversial car component ahead of this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne after the FIA ruled the part breached technical regulations. The decision, confirmed on Thursday, forces the outfit to revise its setup just days before the season opener.

The governing body determined the component failed to comply with bodywork flexibility limits following routine inspections. “The part does not meet the requirements of the technical regulations,” the FIA said in a statement.

The team accepted the verdict but voiced frustration. “We respect the FIA’s decision, even if we disagree with the interpretation,” a spokesperson said. “Our focus now is adapting quickly for Melbourne.”

A rival team principal added: “These checks are part of the sport. Everyone operates close to the limit.”
