FIFA swamped by 150m World Cup ticket requests

FIFA says demand for the 2026 World Cup has already hit extraordinary levels, with president Gianni Infantino revealing the organisation received 150 million ticket requests in just 15 days for the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“We have six-seven million tickets on sale… in 15 days, we received 150 million ticket requests,” Infantino said at the World Sports Summit in Dubai, adding: “This is absolutely crazy.”The surge comes amid criticism of pricing, prompting FIFA to introduce a $60 “Supporter Entry Tier” via national federations for loyal travelling fans. But supporters’ group Football Supporters Europe dismissed the limited cut as “an appeasement tactic” and warned that “the vast majority” will still face steep costs.
