Guardiola blasts VAR after Semenyo goal ruled out

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola hit out at VAR after Antoine Semenyo’s late goal was disallowed in City’s Premier League draw with Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium. The decision came in the closing minutes after officials ruled a foul in the build-up, denying City a potential winner.

Guardiola was furious on the touchline and questioned the intervention. “I don’t understand this decision,” he said. “VAR changed the result of the game.”

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola backed the officials, insisting the call was correct. “There was contact before the goal,” he said. “VAR followed the rules.”

City dominated possession and created several chances, but the overturned strike left Guardiola frustrated as dropped points added pressure in the title race.
