Iran Women Pursue World Cup Amid Strikes

Iran’s women’s national team continues its FIFA World Cup qualification campaign this week despite escalating tensions at home following reported US–Israel strikes on Iranian targets.

Preparing for crucial qualifiers abroad, the squad has pressed on with training camps and travel plans as uncertainty grows in the region. Team officials confirmed preparations remain on schedule, with security protocols tightened around the delegation.

“We are focused on football and representing our country with pride,” a senior player said. “These are difficult days, but our dream remains alive.”

A federation spokesperson added, “The safety of players is our priority, yet the team is determined to compete.”

Iran is chasing a historic first appearance at the Women’s World Cup, aiming to make progress on the pitch even as events off it cast a shadow over the campaign.
