Japan to Host 2030 Women’s Basketball World Cup, France Gets 2031 Men’s Edition

FIBA has handed out two of the biggest hosting prizes in basketball — and both are going to Olympic veterans.
Japan will host the 2030 Women’s Basketball World Cup in Tokyo from November 26 to December 8. It’s the country’s first time hosting the women’s tournament, and the timing is deliberate — it falls on the centenary of the Japanese Basketball Association.
France gets the 2031 Men’s World Cup across Lille, Lyon, and Paris, with the final phase in the capital. Also a first for France.
FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis didn’t hesitate with the praise. “Japan and France are two basketball-loving nations,” he said. “Two destinations extremely popular with our fans, players and partners.”
Both countries hosted recent Olympics. Both know how to put on a show.
