Kimi Antonelli wins Chinese GP, breaks down in tears

Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli claimed an emotional victory at the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday, securing his first Formula One win in Shanghai before breaking down in tears after crossing the finish line.

The young Italian produced a composed drive throughout the race to fend off fierce competition and seal a memorable triumph early in his F1 career. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton joined him on the podium and congratulated the teenager after the race.

“I’m so happy for you,” Hamilton told Antonelli during the celebrations. “You drove an incredible race today.”

Overwhelmed by the moment, Antonelli admitted the victory meant everything to him. “I can’t believe it. This is a dream come true,” he said. “All the hard work finally paid off.”

The win marks a breakthrough moment for the rising star and signals Mercedes’ strong start to the season as the team looks to challenge for major honours.
