Kostyuk’s Coach Shuts Down Swiatek Critics With Sharp Djokovic Comparison

Jolanta Rusin has had enough of the Swiatek pile-on.
The fitness coach — who worked with Iga Swiatek before joining Marta Kostyuk’s team — pushed back against growing criticism of the world number one, drawing a pointed parallel to how Novak Djokovic has been treated throughout his career. Dominant players, Rusin argued, attract a particular kind of hostility that has nothing to do with their actual tennis.
Swiatek has struggled for form in 2026, failing to go beyond the quarterfinals at any event since winning the United Cup in January. Critics have sharpened their knives. But Rusin’s argument is simple: Djokovic was booed and doubted at his lowest points too, and that said more about the crowd than the player.
Swiatek remains world number one. The tennis, not the noise, is what counts.
