Leclerc Loses Two Places After Post-Race Penalty in Miami GP

Leclerc span. Hit the wall. Then made it worse.

On the final lap in Miami, the Ferrari driver lost the rear at Turn 3, clipped the barrier, and came away with steering arm damage — front-left gone, proper right-hand cornering impossible. What followed was the problem. With Russell and Verstappen both hunting him down, Leclerc cut multiple chicanes to hold his position and pushed lapped driver Arvid Lindblad off track. Minor contact with Russell at the hairpin too.

The stewards called it a drive-through — converted post-race to a 20-second penalty. Dropped from sixth to eighth. Lewis Hamilton and Franco Colapinto both moved up. For Colapinto, it was the best result of his grand prix career.

FIA were clear: the mechanical issue didn’t excuse it. “The fact that he had a mechanical issue of some sort did not amount to a justifiable reason,” they said.
