Lowry’s Final-Round Collapse Hands McIlroy Back-to-Back Masters

Shane Lowry looked like he might spoil the party. He didn’t.
The Irishman made a hole-in-one at the sixth hole in Round 3 and entered Sunday just two shots off the lead. Then it fell apart. A final-round 80 ended his hopes and handed the stage back to Rory McIlroy.
McIlroy won back-to-back Masters titles, finishing 12 under par — one shot ahead of world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. He joins Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods as repeat Masters champions.
For Lowry, it was a brutal finish to a week that had so much promise.
