MacIntyre Reprimanded by Augusta After Middle Finger Meltdown at Masters

Robert MacIntyre’s Masters campaign fell apart spectacularly in Round 1 — and his behaviour made headlines almost as much as his scorecard.
The Scottish golfer shot an 8-over 80, capped by a quadruple-bogey nine on the par-5 15th after hitting two consecutive shots into the water. When his third attempt flew through the back of the green, MacIntyre turned to the hole and flipped it the middle finger — live on broadcast.
He also slammed his club into the ground on 17 and was heard swearing on holes 12 and 13. Augusta National, known for the strictest conduct standards in golf, reprimanded him following the round. MacIntyre declined to speak to the media afterwards.
He had arrived at Augusta in form, coming off strong showings at the Players Championship and the Texas Open. The cut now looks a distant hope.
