Maguire Signs One-Year Extension to Stay at Manchester United

Harry Maguire is not going anywhere. The Manchester United centre-back has signed a one-year contract extension at Old Trafford, keeping him at the club into 2027 with an option to extend for a further 12 months.
The 33-year-old was heading towards a free transfer at the end of the season, attracting interest from three Premier League clubs, four Serie A sides, and a Turkish outfit. But United moved to retain him — and Maguire committed.
He has made 20 appearances across all competitions this season under Michael Carrick. Not a regular starter, but a valued presence as the club pursues Champions League qualification from third in the Premier League table.
Maguire arrived from Leicester City in 2019 for £80 million — a world record fee for a defender at the time. That price tag followed him through turbulent years and public criticism. He has weathered all of it.
United are building for the future. Leny Yoro (20) and Ayden Heaven (19) are coming through. Jarrad Branthwaite is being explored as a longer-term solution. But for now, experience wins. And Maguire, for all the noise, brings plenty of it.
