Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 in Chaos as Exhibition Row Threatens September Date

The rematch was announced. Then the fighting started — off the canvas.

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao were set to meet again at The Sphere in Las Vegas in September, confirmed by Netflix in February 2026. But the event is already unravelling. Mayweather has since claimed the bout will be an exhibition — directly contradicting Netflix’s promotional messaging.

That contradiction has consequences. Jas Mathur of MP Promotions called it a breach of contract, warning of “eight to nine-figure damages.”

“There’s gonna be damages and those damages are quite substantial,” Mathur told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Mayweather himself sounded uncertain about the venue. “We don’t know if it’s 100 percent going to be there,” he said of The Sphere.

Their 2015 bout remains the highest-grossing combat sports event in history. The appetite for a rematch is real. But right now it’s unclear whether September brings a fight, an exhibition, or nothing at all.

Lawyers may settle this before the fighters do.
