McIlroy says LIV Golf momentum fading after Koepka exit

Rory McIlroy has claimed LIV Golf is losing momentum, pointing to a lack of new star signings and Brooks Koepka’s reported exit as signs the breakaway tour is stalling. Speaking on Thursday ahead of the PGA Tour season in the United States, the four-time major champion questioned LIV’s long-term pull.

McIlroy said the league has “struggled to attract fresh elite names,” adding that the initial rush has slowed. “The big moves have already happened,” he noted. “You’re not seeing top players lining up anymore.”

Koepka, one of LIV’s marquee signings, is expected to return to the PGA Tour setup, a development McIlroy called “telling.” A senior golf analyst said LIV’s impact has “flattened out,” while a tour insider admitted player movement is no longer driving headlines.

With talks over golf’s future still unresolved, McIlroy believes the balance of power is shifting back, saying the traditional tours are “starting to regain control.”
