McIlroy Wears Masters Jacket to Wimbledon's Royal Box

Rory McIlroy attended day three of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships on Wednesday, 1 July, wearing his Masters Tournament green jacket in the Royal Box at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club – a rare double-major moment that drew considerable attention in one of sport’s most dress-conscious settings. The Northern Irishman was accompanied by his wife, Erica Stoll, and a group of European Ryder Cup figures including Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, team captain Luke Donald, and vice captains Thomas Bjorn, Edoardo Molinari and Francesco Molinari.

The group watched world No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy defeat Portugal’s Nuno Borges in the second round, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. McIlroy paired the green jacket with a white shirt and green tie. The Royal Box carries an established dress code – comedian Andy Samberg was reportedly asked to change out of black jeans and was provided khakis – yet the jacket attracted no such intervention.

McIlroy secured the career Grand Slam at the 2025 Masters by defeating Rose in a playoff, ending a long wait for the one major title that had eluded him. He returned to Augusta National in 2026 and retained the championship, finishing at 12-under par – one stroke clear of Scottie Scheffler. Russell Henley and Cam Young both finished at 10-under, with Young stumbling to a final-round 1-over in the final pairing.

Wimbledon continues through the fortnight, with the men’s singles draw still in its early rounds and further high-profile guests expected throughout the tournament’s remaining days.
