Messi Knocked Down by Fan in MLS Match
Lionel Messi was knocked to the ground by a pitch-invading fan during Inter Miami’s MLS match this week in the United States, briefly halting play before security intervened.
The supporter ran onto the field late in the game and collided with Messi while attempting to approach him. Stewards quickly restrained the individual, and the Argentine star was able to continue without injury.
“It happened very fast, but Leo is fine,” an Inter Miami official said after the match. A teammate added, “Security reacted immediately.”
Messi, an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, has drawn huge crowds across MLS this season, with several matches seeing heightened security due to fan invasions.
