Nuno Blasts Referees After VAR Takes West Ham’s 95th-Minute Equaliser in Arsenal Defeat

Callum Wilson thought he’d got them a point. Then the review started.
Four minutes and seventeen seconds. Seventeen replays. At the end of it, referee Chris Kavanagh ruled that Pablo had fouled David Raya in the build-up to Wilson’s 95th-minute header. Goal disallowed. Arsenal win 1-0. West Ham stay in relegation trouble.
Gary Neville called it “the biggest moment in VAR history.” Nuno Espirito Santo went further — but slower, and more damaging.
“Even the referees don’t know what is a foul and what is not a foul,” he said. “You look at every corner in the Premier League and something like this is happening, not just today, but on all the pitches. The players are confused and frustrated.”
Arsenal go two wins from the title. West Ham’s 18th league defeat means Nottingham Forest and Leeds are safe — West Ham’s only hope of staying up now depends on Tottenham slipping into the bottom three.
The ref had 17 attempts to get it right. West Ham don’t get another go.
