Pakistan set to confirm T20 World Cup 2026 entry

Pakistan is set to confirm its participation in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, to be held in India and Sri Lanka, following fresh assurances from the ICC as the governing body announced the tournament’s match officials this week. The decision is expected in the coming days, easing doubts over Pakistan’s involvement.

An ICC source said the process is “moving in a positive direction,” adding that all member boards have been given security and logistical guarantees. A Pakistan Cricket Board official noted, “Our concerns are being addressed, and discussions with the ICC are ongoing.”

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif welcomed the development, saying, “Pakistan’s presence is vital for the World Cup’s credibility.” The ICC has named officials from over 20 countries, signalling full operational readiness for the tournament.

Pakistan are former T20 world champions, having lifted the title in 2009, and their confirmation would complete the lineup for the expanded 20-team event.
