Parma star misses penalty after referee mistake
Parma’s Claudia Morelli chose fair play over advantage, deliberately missing a penalty against Hic Sunt Leones after a wrong call, as her side later won 9-1 to secure promotion.
With the score at 0-0, the referee awarded a spot-kick for handball, but it was the goalkeeper at fault. Morelli gently passed the ball to the keeper instead of shooting.
“It didn’t feel right,” she said after the match. A teammate added, “That showed real respect for the game.”
Parma still dominated, scoring nine goals, while an opponent admitted, “They were just too strong.”
