Real Madrid, Liverpool and Barcelona All Facing Champions League Elimination

Three of European football’s most decorated clubs are staring at the exit. Real Madrid, Liverpool and Barcelona each lost their Champions League quarter-final first legs — and all three now need significant comebacks to stay in the competition.

Madrid trail Bayern Munich 2-1 after losing at home. Liverpool are two down to PSG, with Arne Slot admitting his side were “kept alive” only because PSG “didn’t score a few open chances.” Barcelona lost 2-0 at home to Atlético Madrid.

Bayern have won 39 of 45 games this season. PSG are defending champions. Atlético have already beaten Barça twice in this tie.

The second legs come Tuesday and Wednesday. Arsenal, meanwhile, lead Sporting Lisbon 1-0 heading into their home tie. One side is having a very different European night to the other three.
