Sabalenka, Swiatek withdraw from Dubai event

Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek have pulled out of the Dubai Tennis Championships this week, citing fitness concerns ahead of the busy WTA calendar.
The world No.1 and No.2 were both expected to headline the tournament in the UAE, but opted to withdraw to manage workload and avoid aggravating minor injuries after intense recent schedules.
“It’s important to listen to my body and recover properly,” Sabalenka said in a statement. Swiatek added, “The season is long, and I need to make smart decisions.”
Organisers expressed disappointment but wished both players well. Their absence reshapes the draw and opens the door for other contenders to chase crucial ranking points in one of the tour’s key Middle East stops.
