Saka Sends Arsenal Into Champions League Final After 20-Year Wait

Twenty years. That’s how long Arsenal have been waiting for this.

Bukayo Saka scored just before half-time at the Emirates on Tuesday — Trossard’s effort was parried by Oblak and fell perfectly to Saka at the back post. He didn’t miss. 1-0 on the night, 2-1 on aggregate. Atletico Madrid are out. Arsenal are in the Champions League final.

The stadium went. The city went. Twenty years since the last final, 2006 in Paris — the one they lost to Barcelona with Jens Lehmann sent off inside 18 minutes. This time it’s different.

Arsenal face either PSG or Bayern Munich in the final at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on May 30. Sixty-seven thousand seats. A real chance at the trophy they’ve never won.

Mikel Arteta built this. Took it from mid-table chaos and made it into a team that beats Atletico Madrid in a Champions League semi-final. Saka, the boy from Ealing, scored the goal.

Budapest on May 30. Don’t miss it.
