Salt’s One-Handed Screamer Stops Kishan at 80 as RCB Chase Down 202

Phil Salt produced one of the great IPL catches to end Ishan Kishan’s stunning 80 off 38 balls in the IPL 2026 opener at Chinnaswamy. In the 16th over, Kishan sliced a full toss wide of Salt at deep backward point — the Englishman sprinted to his right, reached out at full stretch and completed a one-handed screamer that the IPL’s own account called an “absolute screamer at the ropes.”
The dismissal came with SRH placed at 174/4 and proved the turning point. Salt didn’t stop there — he had already caught Travis Head at deep backward square leg and took a controversial boundary-line catch to remove Heinrich Klaasen for 31, which required a lengthy third-umpire check before being confirmed.
Three catches from Salt, three wickets from debutant Jacob Duffy (3-22) and three from Romario Shepherd (3-54) restricted SRH to 201/9, despite Kishan’s 13-boundary blitz and Aniket Verma’s ferocious 43 off 17 at the death.
RCB chased down 202 with 26 balls to spare, Devdutt Padikkal’s 61 and Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 69 making the target look comfortable.
