Sinner Demolishes Zverev to Win Fifth Straight Masters 1000 Title in Madrid

Nobody does this. Nobody ever has.
Jannik Sinner beat Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-2 in the Madrid Open final on Sunday to become the first player in history to win five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles. Since retiring injured in Shanghai last October, he’s won Paris, Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo, and now Madrid. Twenty-three matches unbeaten.
Djokovic won four in a row. Nadal won four in a row. The record stopped there — until Sinner.
Zverev had beaten him earlier in the week. The final was a different story. Sinner was clinical from the first game. An hour and change later, it was done.
“He’s on another level right now,” one commentator said. Hard to argue. The world No. 1 is running away from the rest of the tour — and the history books.
