Spoelstra Demands LaMelo Ejection After Adebayo Trip Knocks Heat Out of Play-In

Erik Spoelstra did not hold back. After LaMelo Ball tripped Bam Adebayo during Tuesday’s NBA Play-In game — sending the Heat star crashing hard to the floor and out of the match with a back injury — the Miami coach went straight at the officials.
“It’s a stupid play. It’s a dangerous play,” Spoelstra said. “He should be penalized for that. I don’t think that belongs in the game. He should have been thrown out.”
Ball was not called for a foul. No review was ordered. Adebayo was ruled out late in the third quarter and did not return.
Charlotte won 127-126 in overtime, eliminating Miami. Ball apologised to Adebayo after the final buzzer. For Spoelstra, that was not nearly enough.
