Steph Curry Eyes Warriors Return After 26-Game Knee Absence

Steph Curry has not played since January 30. On Tuesday, he completed his first full practice in two months — and his first 5-on-5 scrimmage since the injury. A return against the Houston Rockets on April 5 is the target, according to The Athletic.

The injury is runner’s knee, picked up against the Detroit Pistons. What followed was a 26-game absence that sent Golden State into freefall. The Warriors sit at 36-39 — 10th in the Western Conference — staring down the play-in tournament with the regular season nearly done.

Before going down, Curry was producing 27.2 points per game, shooting 39.1% from three and dishing 4.8 assists. The Warriors, as they always are, were a different team with him on the floor.

The fan reaction to his return news has been electric. “No matter what, I look forward to seeing him,” one wrote. Another put it plainly: “Any time Steph is on the court when the lights are brightest, the Warriors have a shot.”

Four games left after the Rockets matchup. It is late. But with Curry back and the play-in looming, Golden State will take their chances.
