Tschofenig Suspended Over Olympic Shoe Breach

Austrian ski jumper Daniel Tschofenig has been provisionally suspended after officials ruled his footwear breached equipment rules during a Winter Olympics inspection on Sunday. The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) confirmed the sanction following a routine post-event check, citing non-compliance with approved specifications.

FIS stated the decision was taken “in line with equipment control procedures,” stressing that fairness and safety are “non-negotiable.” The suspension could rule the 23-year-old out of upcoming Olympic events pending appeal.

Tschofenig dismissed the ruling as “stupid,” insisting his shoes offered “no advantage.” Austria’s coaching staff said they would challenge the ban through official channels.
