Verstappen pushes for 2026 F1 rule tweak

Red Bull star Max Verstappen has begun lobbying behind the scenes for a change to Formula 1’s 2026 regulations following the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, arguing the planned rules could make racing less competitive.
The three-time world champion has reportedly raised concerns with F1 officials and team figures, believing some of the upcoming technical changes—particularly around power units and aerodynamics—could negatively affect the racing spectacle.
Verstappen did not hide his stance when discussing the future of the sport. “We all want the racing to stay exciting,” he said, stressing that drivers should have a voice in how the new regulations evolve.
Red Bull figures have also hinted that teams are closely analyzing the proposals. One paddock insider noted that “drivers like Max understand how these cars behave better than anyone.”
The 2026 rules, which introduce new hybrid engines and revised chassis concepts, are expected to reshape the competitive balance across the grid.
