Vonn crashes in final downhill of comeback season

American ski icon Lindsey Vonn suffered a crash in the final downhill race of her comeback season on Sunday, bringing a dramatic end to the event at a World Cup stop. The incident occurred late in the race as Vonn pushed aggressively on the course.

Vonn lost control at high speed and slid off course, but was able to get up on her own. “I gave it everything,” Vonn said afterward, adding that she was “disappointed but grateful to walk away.”

Race officials confirmed she avoided serious injury. A fellow competitor described the fall as “a reminder of how unforgiving downhill skiing can be.”

The crash marked a tough finish to Vonn’s return, though she has repeatedly said the comeback was about “testing limits, not results.”
