What Is Baccarat A?
Baccarat A is one of Evolution’s standard live baccarat tables, not a video slot. One conflict is worth flagging. Some game databases list a flat 96% RTP for Baccarat A and leave volatility and max win blank. That 96% is a placeholder value used for live tables and it contradicts the provider document, so the figures used throughout this review are Evolution’s.

Baccarat A RTP is not a single number, it is a menu. What you return over time depends entirely on which spot you cover, and the spread between the best and worst wager on the layout is more than twelve percentage points.

Evolution publishes the optimal figure and the side-bet table, but not a separate percentage for the Player or Tie bet in this rule set. Third-party sites routinely quote 98.76% for Player and 85.64% for Tie, and those are the standard eight-deck results, but they are not provider numbers and this review will not present them as such. The practical takeaway is unchanged: the Banker bet is the strongest wager on the table and the Tie bet is the weakest.
How to Play Baccarat A: Rules and Card Values
Learning how to play Baccarat A takes about a minute. Place chips on Player, Banker or Tie, add side bets if you want them, and wait. Two cards go to each hand, a third may follow, and the hand closest to nine wins. Bets on Player and Banker push on a tie, so a tied round costs you nothing on the main bets.
Card Values and Hand Totals
Aces are worth one point. Cards from two to nine count their face value. Tens, jacks, queens and kings are all worth zero. Hand values drop the tens digit, so a seven and a nine total six rather than sixteen, and a king with a nine is a nine. An opening two-card total of eight or nine is a natural and ends the deal immediately.
The Third Card Rule
If neither hand holds a natural, a fixed table decides what happens next. The Player hand draws on a total of zero to five and stands on six or seven. The Banker hand then draws or stands depending on its own total and on the value of the card the Player drew: a Banker total of three, four or five must draw when the Player stands on six or seven, while a Banker six must stand. None of this is your choice, which is why baccarat rules are identical at every Evolution table.
Commission on Banker Wins
The Banker hand wins slightly more often than the Player hand, so a 5% commission is charged on Banker wins and the payout is quoted as 0.95:1. That deduction is already baked into the 98.94% figure. Removing the commission, as the No Commission tables do, does not make the bet better: those tables pay only 0.5:1 when the Banker wins with six.
Baccarat A Gameplay and Round Pace
Baccarat A gameplay is deliberately unhurried. Evolution puts a standard round at roughly 48 seconds, which leaves real time to read the roads, adjust stakes and place side bets. If that is too slow, the same rules run at about 27 seconds on Speed Baccarat and faster again on Super Speed Baccarat, where cards are dealt face up and results time is trimmed to the minimum.
Betting is drag-and-drop. Tap a chip value, tap a spot, and each additional tap adds another unit. A double button appears once a bet is live and doubles it up to the table ceiling, a rebet button repeats your last layout in one click, and undo removes chips one at a time rather than clearing everything at once. The Baccarat A symbols are ordinary playing cards, and suits are irrelevant except on the Perfect Pair side bet, which needs matching value and suit. The layout carries Player, Banker and Tie plus the two default Pairs spots, and Perfect Pair, Either Pair, Player Bonus and Banker Bonus can be switched on in the game settings.
Above the layout sit the roads. The Bead Road and Big Road record raw outcomes, with red for Banker, blue for Player and green for a tie, plus corner dots that mark a Banker or Player pair. Pairs Side Bets
P Pair and B Pair are the two default side bets and each pays 11:1 if the first two cards dealt to that hand form a pair. Both return 89.64%, so they cost roughly nine points of RTP against the Banker bet in exchange for a much larger single hit.
Perfect Pair and Either Pair
Perfect Pair needs two identical cards by value and suit. One such pair on either hand pays 25:1, and identical pairs on both hands pay 200:1, the biggest published multiple in the game. Its RTP is 91.95%. Either Pair simply asks whether either hand is a pair, pays 5:1, and returns 86.29%, which makes it the weakest published wager on the layout.
Player Bonus and Banker Bonus
These optional spots reward margin of victory. A natural win pays 1:1, a natural tie pushes, and a non-natural win pays on a ladder: 1:1 by four points, 2:1 by five, 4:1 by six, 6:1 by seven, 10:1 by eight and 30:1 by nine. Player Bonus returns 97.35% and Banker Bonus 90.63%, so the two sides of the same-looking bet are far from equivalent.
Red Envelope Boosts
Baccarat A belongs to the Red Envelope group of tables. In random rounds an envelope is attached to the Tie, P Pair or B Pair spot and raises its payout: Tie moves from 8:1 to as much as 88:1, and either Pairs spot moves from 11:1 to as much as 88:1. More than one envelope can appear in the same round with different values. The catch is simple – the boost only pays if your chip is already on that exact spot and that spot wins.
Baccarat A Payouts and Max Win Potential
Baccarat A max win works differently from a slot. There is no fixed jackpot, no multiplier ladder and no advertised ceiling in units of the total bet. The largest published multiple is 200:1 on Perfect Pair with two identical pairs, followed by up to 88:1 on a boosted Tie or Pairs spot. Everything else tops out at 30:1 on the Bonus ladder and 11:1 on a plain pair.
That means your realistic maximum is the table limit multiplied by the odds of the spot you covered. On a table topping out around 3,000 units, a Perfect Pair at full stake is a theoretical 600,000 units, but side-bet maximums are usually capped far below main-bet maximums, so treat that arithmetic as an upper bound rather than a promise and check the limits displayed at your table.

Baccarat A volatility is not published as a rating, and no honest review can invent one, because there is no reel model to simulate. What can be described is the shape of the risk, and it splits cleanly in two.
Main Bets: Near Coin-Flip Variance
Player and Banker resolve close to even money and ties push, so bankroll movement is gradual. Sessions tend to drift rather than spike, streaks of five or six on one side are common, and the house edge grinds slowly at just over one percent on the Banker bet. In slot language this is low to medium volatility.
Side Bets: High Variance, Lower RTP
Add Perfect Pair or Either Pair and the profile flips. Hits are infrequent, payouts are large, and the published RTP drops by between two and thirteen percentage points. Covering three or four side spots every round also multiplies your effective stake, so the same bankroll lasts a fraction of the time. That combination – lower return with bigger swings – is the trade you are actually making.

There is no Baccarat A strategy that changes the return, because you make no decisions after the deal. What you can control is bet selection, stake size and session length, and those three things account for almost all of the difference between players.
